What is pull printing?
Pull printing flips the usual flow. Instead of a document printing immediately on one pre-chosen printer (push), the job waits in a secure queue until you reach a printer that suits you and authenticate — then, and only then, it is released and printed.
Because the job ‘follows you’ to whichever device you authenticate at, the printer's location barely matters — the next room or a branch on another continent. Authentication can use an existing employee/RFID card, a personal PIN, NFC or a QR code.
Push vs. Pull
The difference is simple but fundamental — and it is where all the security and savings come from.
Standard printing (Push)
The PC or print server sends the job straight to a specific printer; it prints right away and sits in the output tray for whoever walks by.
Secure printing (Pull)
The job is stored encrypted in a queue; it is released only after the user authenticates physically at the printer — so sensitive documents are never left unattended.
